THE DINNER CLUB

Adult Holy Cross members are invited to join The Dinner Club. Members dine in groups of 6-8 during the months of October to May.  Singles (may pair up) or couples are asked to host a dinner in their home one time per year. The dinner guests are assigned to a host home by the event scheduler (Betty Enfinger). The host determines the menu and may ask guests to bring a side dish. Everyone is given a schedule for the year to allow adequate planning. This will be our 7th year of

fellowship for Holy Cross “Gourmands”.  Contact Betty for further information at 477-8596

CLUB 55

Club 55 is a fellowship event for our senior members that is dedicated to good food & good fun. We meet the third Tuesday of the month for a luncheon that may include a tour, guest speaker, or just “jaw boning”. The luncheon menu is quite varied and always delicious. The members decide on specific cuisines and volunteer as “guest” chefs. Last November Fr. Jeff was our guest chef and served his famous Yankee Pot Roast. We voted not “to chop” Fr Jeff, which means he will be invited back for an encore entrée. Our field trips are within a one hour’s drive and allow easy walking.

Previous guest speakers presented diverse topics such as the blood bank, tissue donation, weaving, prescription drugs, gardening, and Medicare supplemental insurance. Touring the Two Castles in Fairhope, Natural Decorations Inc. in Brewton, Arcadia Mills in Milton, and Bellingrath Gardens in Mobile were some of our field trips.  Our favorite holiday event is playing the “Dirty Santa Exchange” at O’Brien’s Bistro.

Seniors, please join us on Tuesday, September 21, 11:30 am, in the dining room for a pot luck luncheon. Bring an unwanted but usable item for the infamous White Elephant Auction. For further information call Betty at 4 77-8596.

The Holy Cross Office will be closed on Monday, September 6 in observance of Labor Day.
